Our Boat

Our sailing vessel, Qué vendrá, is an Outbound 46 sailboat. She was built in the spring of 2009. She is a solent rig, meaning she has a single mast with a mainsail and two front sails – a small jib on an inner stay and a larger genoa on furlers. She also carries an asymetrical spinnaker. The cockpit is placed aft and provides a good balance between safety and comfort. Inside is the forward “owners” cabin, with a centerline bed and a “guest” cabin aft. The salon settees can be converted to additional sleeping berths, so overall, they can sleep for 7. The interior includes two heads (toilet/shower), a galley (kitchen) that is very ergonomically laid out, and a navigation station. There is also a large “workshop” area in the aft section. She is well-balanced and comfortable and sails beautifully, making her an excellent platform for cruising and learning to sail.

Qué vendrá means “What will come” in Spanish, and it is a name that reflects our love for adventure and exploration.

Captain Maciek
Captain and Instructor

Maciek

Maciek (Mac) grew up reading about sailing adventures and dreaming of saliling over the horizon. He finally found a place to learn to sail in 2003 when we moved in to Seattle, WA area. His sailing education progressed through local charters, vacations in Mediterranean and BVIs, and eventually buying his first boat to explore the beauty of the Pacific Northwest with his family. After owning a few more boats, he and his wife left the corporate world to pursue their dream of sailing full-time. For the last four years they traveled from Seattle to Mexico, Central America, and then through Panama to the Caribbean. They have sailed over 10,000 nautical miles.

Maciek is a US Coast Guard licensed captain and holds instructor credentials for the American Sailing Association (ASA) 101, 103, 104, and 114 classes. He loves sharing his passion and his experiences with others, helping them realize their dreams of sailing to distant shores.

Olena

Olena (Ola) has always been fascinated by the sea. She enjoyed the family boating trips around the Salish Sea and learned to become a capable first mate. Later, together with Maciek, she sailed out of the Pacific Northwest, into the open waters of the Pacific, exploring the coast of Mexico, Central America and crossing through the Panama Canal over to the Caribbean. Along the way, she become a skilled cruiser, taking on many responsiblities - navigating, watch standing, managing the boat, provisioning and logistics, and more.

Olena is deeply familiar with the cruising lifestyle and has a wealth of knowledge about it that she is happy to share with others. When not on our boat, she takes care of the business side of our sailing adventures.
